Abstract
The author explains a new approach to psychotherapy, which he calls reality therapy, and discusses its application to the young offender. He contends that, whereas traditional psychotherapy provides psychological excuses for the patient's behavior and does not adequately confront the patient with the responsibility for the way he acts, reality therapy focuses on his present behavior and emphasizes his individual responsibility, but disregards his past history, unconscious conflicts, and psychiatric diagnosis.
