Abstract
Echogenic foci of the ovary are a common finding during pelvic sonography exams. Echogenic foci have been associated with benign conditions and have also been noted to occur in some malignant conditions. There is confusion when it comes to assuring that the process seen is benign. A review of the current literature demonstrates that the majority of cases with histological correlation involved benign processes, but a definitive analysis of sonographic characteristics has not yet been compiled.
