Abstract
This article is a first-hand account of the challenges of mothering a blind child. The author reveals her initial doubts about her ability to acquire the knowledge and skills required of a primary caretaker. The author discusses the rewards and difficulties involved in mainstreaming her child and in providing him with the opportunities to develop himself to the fullest. She also discusses the effect of her son's blindness on herself and her relations with family, friends, schools, and the community at large.
