Rehabilitation: The Double Bind for Blind Women

Abstract

Blind women are in double jeopardy in this society. They are subject to prejudice and stigmatization on two counts: because they are disabled and because they are women. The author describes the complexities of the rehabilitation process, especially in relation to blind women, and suggests what rehabilitation workers and blind women themselves can do to improve the situation.
