Abstract
This article presents the case of educational policy development of the University of Twente (UT) and takes a critical look at some of the issues at stake. The emphasis in this process is predominantly focused on improving the efficiency and quality of the educational process. The internationalisation of education at the UT is understood as a deliberate institutional strategy to create a truly international and intercultural academic community on the campus. It means that international mobility is a means rather than an end in itself. The value of an internationalised campus for the process of global teaching and learning is of immense importance and forms the main resource for intercultural experiences in and outside the lecture hall.
