Abstract
A number of anechoic chambers are at present being built, or are projected, in various parts of Great Britain. The present paper, after briefly discussing the basic principles of anechoic-chamber design, sketches the background to the recently completed chamber at Queen Mary College. A fairly detailed description of the design and construction of the chamber is then given, followed by details and results of its commissioning. Emphasis is laid on the mechanical construction.
