Abstract
The day of September 11 1983 will mark the tenth anniversary of the toppling of the Allende government and its replacement by the military regime of General Augusto Pinochet. Two Spanish-speaking journalists, one a Chilean who had fled Pinochet's armed terror (and must therefore remain unnamed), were asked to record their impressions of life under thejuntafor Critical Social Policyfrom theirrecent visit. The following article is a compilation of these impressions, together with recent sources on Chilean events, focussing on the economy, unemployment and social services.
