Features of the Deformation Behaviour of Particulate-Filled Composites Based on Polyethylene and Rubber Particles at Elevated Temperatures

Abstract

An investigation was made of the deformation behaviour of composites based on high-density polyethylene and particles of crosslinked rubber at elevated temperatures. At test temperatures of 20–60°C, with increase in the filler concentration, transition from plastic deformation to brittle failure and then to macrohomogeneous deformation occurs. In the 75–90°C temperature range, transition from elongation of materials with necking to deformation with the formation of delocalised necks and then to macrohomogeneous elongation is found. Elongation with the formation of delocalised necks is realised with a content of elastic filler of 26–56 vol%.
