Abstract
The need for more methodologically sound research in adventure therapy (AT) is commonly discussed among AT professionals. Clearly, as the culture of the psychological community is increasingly influenced by both managed care and the movement toward empirically-validated treatments, the need for solid research in AT is becoming progressively more urgent. This article focuses on summarizing some of the necessary considerations for conducting outcome studies in AT from the perspective of psychotherapy outcome research. Specific suggestions for future design strategies that can be implemented in AT settings will also be discussed.
