Abstract
Bloat is an important nutritional disorder of cattle and sheep grazing on legumes, though it can arise on grasses. It has been the subject of much research within the last few years, and it is now known that “frothy” bloat can be prevented by applying surface-active agents to pastures. This method, however, is likely to be uneconomic for general use, and further research aimed at eliminating the bloating power of growing legumes is needed.
