Abstract
Progress in silage-making in Britain since the war has not been as rapid as many had hoped having regard to the potential cheapness of the material as a feedingstuff. Much poor silage has been made from time to time leading to wastage of valuable nutrients. Yet the principles of good silage-making are well understood and are profitably used by progressive dairyfarmers and producers of beef and lamb. At the risk of presenting a twice-told tale, they are here set out.
