The Use of Twins in Experimental Work with Cattle

Abstract

By using twins in cattle experiments of simple design, complications due to hereditary or to early environmental variation are minimized, and thus the effects of treatments on the characters that are susceptible can be assessed efficiently with relatively few animals. Identical twins and, to a lesser extent, fraternal twins have advantages over unrelated pairs, and their value will be enhanced as experiments become more precise.
