Abstract

Every coated fabric is unique when it comes to flame retardation because there are so many variables that can affect its use and performance. The proper formula must be worked out for each one. In this paper I have attempted to outline the basic principals of flame retardant technology. Every coated fabric will re quire customized formulation in order to maximize flammability reduction and cost performance. Performance of many flame retardants will vary dramatically depend mg on the design of the flammability test they are required to meet. A knowledge of the concepts discussed here will make it easier for any technical person to develop efficient solutions to his or her flame retardant requirements.
