Abstract
Arterial revascularization in patients with diabetes is challenging. The diabetic state predisposes patients to develop foot lesions, which often require distal arterial revascularization for limb salvage. New interventional techniques have allowed improved early limb salvage with decreased morbidity through the use of minimally invasive procedures. Standard arterial bypass techniques result in more durable limb salvage for most patients. Although long-term results and survival are reduced compared with nondiabetic patients, arterial revascularization is efficacious in healing foot lesions and improving the quality of life.
