Abstract
The role of waveforms in the diagnosis of venous thrombosis and venous insufficiency has changed dramatically during the past few decades. Historically, venous physiologic devices and Doppler waveform analysis attempted to replace venography. Although these indirect testing methods fell short of this goal, direct venous imaging did not. There is still, however, valuable information that can be obtained from Doppler waveform analysis and, in some instances, this information is the most accurate way to answer a particular clinical question.
