Abstract
This paper reviews the methods used in the interpretation and monitoring of ECGs by computer. The use of digital and analogue/hybrid computer systems is described and the problems associated with the technique are discussed. The reasons why a small dedicated computer is thought preferable to a large multi-purpose machine are also mentioned.
