Speech Characteristics of Two Children With Moebius Syndrome

Abstract

Moebius syndrome is a rare but interesting neuropathology in which structures supporting speech performance may be impaired. Two children suffering from Moebius syndrome are presented. In addition to a review of neurologic and structural deficits observed in these children, data obtained from a comprehensive assessment of their speech skills are offered. The clinical speech problems identified are compared to the symptom patterns characteristic of patients with bulbar palsy.
