Acquisition of scientific literature in developing countries

Abstract

The eighth in a series of articles on the acquisition of scientific literature by libraries in developing countries. (The first five were published in 1989; the sixth and seventh are published in the same issue of Information Development). Describes the background of scientific and technological development in Nigeria and discusses the demand for scientific materials, the development and present situation of scientific and technological libraries and the supply of scientific materials in the country, including problems of acquisition and bibliographical control, staffing and finance. Proposes measures to alleviate these problems.
