Abstract
Emphasizes the importance of adopting marketing-oriented administration in libraries in order to contribute to the full development of information sector activities. Comments on the results of a survey of marketing in Brazilian geoscience and mineral technology libraries, analyzing the knowledge of marketing possessed by the managers of these libraries. Lack of knowledge of the subject among library managers was verified and some means are suggested for improving the situation.
