Information Needs and Information Provision in Developing Countries

Abstract

Information needs vary from place to place. The majority of people in developing countries do not seem to be aware of the information services useful to them. Effective information provision as well as appropriate technology transfer are necessary for rural agricultural and industrial development, improvement of health services, education, family planning and the protection of environment. There are many constraints to effective information provision and the establishment of a national information system in these countries. Some suggestions are made here to improve the situation.
