Abstract

Telehealth technologies have aided in the distribution of health-related services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. With increased telehealth use, privacy risks and security concerns among healthcare providers and patients have subsequently increased. In previous research where 205 research papers were reviewed related to healthcare privacy and security, the results reveal a significant lack of research on telehealth security and privacy. In this panel, we aim to discuss this critical gap by studying how current healthcare process designs and provider workflows associated with the use of telehealth technologies impact the security and privacy of patients' protected health information. The panel will engage in in-depth discussions about value-sensitive design while focusing on potentially critical data, such as healthcare data which is not typically emphasized in general security and privacy concerns. To address this, the panel consists of experts from the diverse field including privacy and security, user interaction, and healthcare.
