Abstract
Iatrogenic hypermaguesaemia may occur when magnesium is infused in the presence of compromized renal function. Three cases are described and the renal control of magnesium is discussed. If magnesium is considered necessary in the presence of decreased renal function, reduction in dosage and frequent monitoring of serum magnesium levels should be undertaken.
