Abstract
Cost, compliance, quality, and accessibility are inseparable elements of successful managed care environments. The real-time collection, analysis, and use of information is necessary to make the rapid decisions and adaptations required in managed care. Traditional computerized information systems can rapidly process information and data, but can the small-to medium-sized agency afford them? A technology that has been in existence for over 40 years is emerging as the cost-effective solution for today and tomorrow-the Internet. Web-based home health care information/documentation systems make it possible for agencies of all sizes to successfully compete for managed care contracts.
