Abstract
This article explores homelessness as a life-style and how it impacts the health of this population. Nurses' roles and nursing strategies are identified. The concept of community-based health care is introduced, as is the major role that the nurse may assume. Health education and health promotion are described in terms of their importance to the general health of the population of homeless individuals. Partnerships and collaborations between health care providers in the community and health education institutions is suggested as a means toward amelioration of problems and educating future generations of health care providers.
