Abstract
A case of postoperative peritonitis caused by Saccharomyces cerivisiae and successfully treated with ketoconazole is reported. S. cerivisiae was grown, in culture, from the peritoneal cavity of a patient with postoperative fever and leukocytosis treated with broad-spectrum antibiotics. Possible etiologies of the peritonitis are discussed.
