Abstract
A 29-year-old woman presented with a right buttock mass of 5-year duration that had recently begun to increase in size. Physical examination revealed a large, hard, mobile mass in the right buttock that was calcified on radiograph. The mass was resected, revealing a lobulated, cartilaginous, and bony mass. Histologically, the lesion exhibited areas of mature cartilage, enchondral and membranous bone formation, mature fat, vascular proliferations, and skeletal muscle—features characteristic of be nign mesenchymoma. These lesions are rare, particularly in this location. This report describes the pathologic findings in this case and reviews the literature on benign cartilage-containing mesenchymomas of soft tissue. Int J Surg Pathol 1 (2):129-134, 1993
