Abstract
Both authors are members of Sheffield City Polytechnic, England. Mary Ball is a Research Assistant in the Department of Management Studies primarily engaged in research on the processes of environmental scanning and strategic decision-making in small firms. Colin Gilligan is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Business Studies. Both are interested in the amount and type of small business training and education which business and management students receive. These research notes describe an exercise which was undertaken to determine the extent to which existing university and polytechnic business qualification courses include specific 'Small Business' options either taught or by projects.
