Abstract
A newly designed charcoal haemoperfusion device was evaluated by repeated haemoperfusion of conscious dogs. The procedure was tolerated well and the incidence of side effects was low. Alterations to haematolo-gy were small with platelet drops of only 9% and only minor disturbances to plasma chemistry were seen.
