Abstract
To this day, the cardiac and energetic costs of simultaneous static and dynamic muscular tasks have not been extensively studied. This paper deals with the repercussions on heart-rate and oxygen consumption of experimental muscular tasks characterized by simultaneous dynamic and static components. The results demonstrate that the cost of the double tasks, for the two parameters studied, is not additive but multiplicative. These conclusions are compared with existing studies, and their ergonomic applications underlined.
