Abstract
Drawing on both a ministudy of 29 students shortly before completing a self-development module on master of business administration program in Hong Kong and the critical studies of the module by 3 outside students, this article reveals six lessons (make the module an elective course, provide explicit precourse briefing, keep group size less than 30 students, provide more active facilitation, confine the length of the course to 1 year or 1 semester, present a clear course structure) regarding how self-development can be run more effectively in an MBA program. A new elective was designed accordingly and ran successfully in the calendar year 1995.
