Abstract
This paper reports on a scheme of worker participation presently being carried out within the SECV. The scheme involves the establishment of joint management- union working parties to make policy recommendations aimed at the resolution of administrative and industrial problems. The first section provides a background to the origins and development of working parties and identifies some of the problems so far considered. The second section examines the mechanics of working parties and, in particular, their structure and how they operate. The third section considers in more detail two such working parties, whilst the final section discusses some of the key issues. Rather than being considered a definitive document on working parties, this paper is better viewed as a preliminary report on an emerging procedure for dispute settlement.
