Abstract
Equality in access to information is fundamental to community information provision. This article explores some of the basic inequalities that exist in relation to access to information, suggests some broad conclusions that can be drawn from the evidence, and describes how one public library authority has responded in this field. Particular emphasis is given to services in urban areas of social deprivation.
