Abstract
The British Library's Strategic Plan is reviewed with particular attention being paid to scientific and technical information and to non-book materials. After a brief discussion of BL and interlibrary co-operation, the three key strategies identified by the plan are examined. The most detailed study is on the proposals for improving services, where the market will expect high quality, particularly where premium income-earning services are concerned. The organizational changes outlined in the plan are also assessed before conclusions are drawn, notably that the income and staffing targets will be difficult to hit, and the library will need to monitor closely the implementation of the plan.
