Abstract
Erosions with protruding edges
A 74-year-old patient presents with intense pain in his hands and feet. The clinical examination and laboratory investigations point to gout arthritis. Radiological investigation reveals bone erosions with typical ‘overhanging edges’, otherwise known as ‘rat bite erosions’. These erosions display typical characteristics that can help differentiate between gout, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis arthritis.
