Abstract
Hepatorenal syndrome after embolisation of a splenorenal shunt
This article discusses a case of hepatorenal syndrome after therapeutic embolisation of a splenorenal shunt in a patient with recurrent hepatic encephalopathy. The hepatorenal syndrome is a unique form of acute kidney failure in patients with end-stage liver cirrhosis and ascites. In this case, no known triggering factors were found, so it was evaluated if the embolisation of the portosystemic shunt can predispose to the emergence of a hepatorenal syndrome.
