Abstract
The relationship between accessibility and urban density is examined both conceptually and experimentally. A linear relationship between the logarithm of density and centrality, a derivative of accessibility, is calibrated. It is shown that centrality can be used to measure the utility of location in the context of the land-use/transport system. This provides a basis for evaluating land-use/transport changes by using only data readily available from transportation studies.
