Classification of the Social Sciences

Abstract

This article discusses the nature of social science, emphasizing characteristics important to knowl­edge organization. It addresses the nature of social science disciplines, and compares social science to natural science and the humanities. It notes in particular that social science disciplines cannot be distinguished logically. It explores the treatment of the social sciences in both knowl­edge organization systems and the knowl­edge organization literature.
