Abstract
The goal of this study is to develop a semantic artifact for capturing and inferencing medically significant information from the patient narration. The motivation for such a framework emerges from the understanding of the significance of patient narration and its underutilization. The ontology which borrows from the theories of narration and its components, supports the capture of the narrative detail in medicine. Existing ontology-based narrative models also contributed to this study. A phased approach was adopted to fulfill the objective. A foundational framework was established during the initial phase, while the subsequent phase involved data modeling. A three-way evaluation was also performed to validate the model.
