Abstract

In the zygomatico-orbital complex, the most common negative consequence of damage is the development of post-traumatic maxillary sinusitis. The importance of preventing this condition and the difficulty of its treatment are highlighted in various studies. The main factor contributing to its development is a violation of the integrity of the bone walls of the maxillary sinus, injury to the mucous membrane of the sinus and hemorrhage into its cavity, which leads to the formation of hemosinus. The purpose of this study is to study the microbial composition and condition of the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinus in fractures of the zygomatic bone with damage to the wall of the maxillary sinus on the side of injury. The microbiological study consisted of collecting microflora from the damaged maxillary sinus of the midface to determine and analyze the bacteria content. The sample was taken from patients during surgery using a standard swab and an analysis transport system. Further research was carried out in a bacteriological laboratory. There is insufficient information in scientific publications about the presence of microorganisms in the maxillary sinuses during fractures of the zygomatico-orbital complex. Therefore, the study of the quantitative and species composition of bacteria from the maxillary sinus on the side of the injury is of scientific importance.
