Shot dip moveout with logarithmic transformations

Abstract

In a recent paper, Notfors and Godfrey (1987) presented an approximate analytical expression for a common‐offset dip moveout (DMO) operator in the space, logarithmic‐time domain. This operator yields an efficient frequency‐wavenumber DMO algorithm. In this note we extend Notfors and Godfrey’s work to obtain an approximate DMO operator in the logarithmic space and time domains and propose an efficient frequency‐wavenumber DMO algorithm that is applied to shot gathers. A synthetic example is presented.
