Abstract
In 2007, 24 companies joined with SEG in a partnership unlike any that the field of geophysics had ever seen. It was the launch of a visionary initiative: the SEG Advanced Modeling (SEAM) Corporation. The aim of this initiative was to advance the integration of geologic and geophysical modeling to ensure a fit into the workflows of reservoir management by providing reliable, large-scale numerical modeling and simulation usable by reservoir engineers, geoscientists, and decision makers in oil and gas field development. It was not an easy objective in 2007, nor even in 2017, but SEAM has progressed. Through time, 36 companies have partnered with SEAM to make it the standard in subsurface modeling. This article summarizes the last 10 years of SEAM projects and provides a glimpse of the accomplishments attained.
