CROSSROADS OF GEOPHYSICS

Abstract

I am of the opinion that geophysics, after twenty‐five years of modern geophysical exploration, faces a crossroads. On our present road, which exploration geophysics has traversed in a generation, we have established a wonderful record for geophysics in the United States which has also been extended into the far places of the earth. Exploration geophysics originated in the old world, but it found its home in the United States. In the United States we can best examine its record. We have a fairly good record of its applications in this country.
