On certain pairs of functions of semiprime rings

Abstract

Let f f and g g be functions of a set S S into a semiprime ring R R . A necessary and sufficient condition for f f and g g to satisfy f ( s ) x g ( t ) = g ( s ) x f ( t ) f(s)xg(t) = g(s)xf(t) for all s , t S , x R s,t \in S,x \in R is given. As an application, biderivations and commuting additive mappings of semiprime rings are characterized.
