Maximum modulus algebras and analytic varieties

Abstract

Let A A be a maximum modulus algebra on X X , and V V a maximal open subset of X X such that V V has the structure of one-dimensional variety on which functions from A A are analytic. Then, the restriction algebra A X ∖ V {A_{X\backslash V}} is again a maximum modulus algebra.
