Virtually free groups are 𝑝-Schatten stable

Abstract

It was proven that finitely generated virtually free groups are stable in permutations. In this note we show that a similar strategy can be used to prove that finitely generated virtually free groups are stable with respect to a normalized p p -Schatten norm for 1 ≤ p > ∞ 1\leq p > \infty . In particular, this implies that virtually free groups are Hilbert-Schmidt stable.
