Abstract

Purpose/Thesis: The author’s aim was to assess the state of research on ‘digital culture / cyberculture’ by analysing the knowledge domain. The second aim was to compare the results obtained through a simple analysis of bibliographic data from the Web of Science database with the results of data mapping and visualisation in CiteSpace. Originality/Value: The knowledge domain ‘digital culture / cyberculture’ is relatively new. Research in this field is conducted mainly within the humanities, social sciences, and information technology. Results and conclusions: A relatively small group of researchers makes noticeable contributions. However, different methods of analyzing the same set of bibliographic data lead to different conclusions. Research based on bibliographic data can only be a foundation of a complete analysis of the knowledge domain.
