Development of a Multispectral Video Endoscope for Recognition of Foreign Substances during Non-destructive Testing of Hard-to-reach Cavities

Abstract

The problem of recognition and identification of traces of foreign substances on the surfaces of hard-to-reach cavities of complex industrial facilities is considered. The developed multispectral video endoscope will allow to scanning facility areas in different spectral bands, which will allow to distinguishing traces of different substances based on spectral properties. The outstanding feature of this device is that it is capable to perform simultaneous registration of all optical, spectral, and spatial information, which makes it unnecessary to fix the probe rigidly relative to a facility. The optical properties of the device as a whole and of its spectral registering module are described. Image quality analysis is conducted. It is noted that such devices may be potentially used for non-destructive testing of internal cavities of industrial devices and systems.
