1. As a background to the problem the need for alternative fuels in the late 1980's and the likely nature of these fuels are briefly described. The combustion quality of these fuels is then defined. Behavior of such fuelsin the aircraft gas turbine combustor is divided into two parts: what happens when they are used in existing combustors without any design modifications is described by means of a review of published information, and, how the combustor might have to be changed to accommodate these fuels is discussed in light of these data. The problem of burning these fuels is related to the aims of Part I. Likely Fuels for the 1980's
