He used a proposed CCV fighter with direct l i f t control blended with conventional elevator'generated rotation. The configuration provided unprecedented freedom in shaping the dynamic response, but it violated the common assumptions made i n the classical longitudinal short period equation above - for example, l i f t due to control was not negligible.
