5. The PPU for the SPT-100 was a new design for which the development program was described in Reference 22. The development featured intensive collaboration betweentheRussian SPTexpertsatFakel and RIAME and the SS/L PPU designers.The success of that collaboration was demonstrated by the first integrated testing of the SPT and a breadboard SS/L PPU which occurredsuccessfully upon first attempt in the summer of 1992. Since then, four additional breadboardPPUshavebeen built tosupportavariety of SPT and subsystem test objectives at Fakel, RIAME, JPL, NASA LERC, Front RangeResearch and the Air Force Phillips Laboratory. Over 6000 hours of integratedoperationalexperiencehas beenaccumulated.
